(#101) Green Lantern: Emerald Knights - 2011 - Directed by Chris Berkeley, Lauren Montgomery, & Jay Oliva
Beautifully animated film, all the short stories that tie the film together are very well written and ultimately come together for a fantastic pay off at the end of the film. This is yet another quality release from DC Animated.
(#100) A Clockwork Orange - 1971 - Directed by Stanley Kubrick
A very interesting & thought provoking film. Kubrick has a very distinct directorial style that continues in this film in a way that really engages you with the story. Overall I enjoyed the film, but it did feel a bit long near the middle of the film.
(#99) Attack the Block - 2011 - Directed by Joe Cornish
Best film of the year, believe. It’s directed with an amazing style & has fantastic cinematography. Loved everything about the film, it felt just like the films directed by Edgar Wright & produced by Joe Cornish. It’s that great mix of action, humor, & suspense. This is a film that needs to be seen as many people as possible, go see it! Trust.
(#98) Phineas and Ferb the Movie: Across the 2nd Dimension - 2011 - Directed by Jeff ‘Swampy’ Marsh & Dan Povenmire
I’ve been watching the fantastic television series for a while with my son, so when I heard about this film a while back I was excited. Needless to say, I loved this. It had a ton of great call backs to past episodes as well as some great comedy & really well done action scenes. I honestly think Disney should have released this in theaters, it’s much better then some of the other animated films released in theaters this year.
(#97) Conan the Barbarian - 2011 - Directed by Marcus Nispel
Had potential, but ultimately it came off as very silly with horribly wooden acting. Avoid at all costs.
(#96) The Darjeeling Limited - 2007 - Directed by Wes Anderson
Yet another outstanding film from Wes Anderson. He has to become one of my favorite filmmakers over the course of each film he has released. I loved the chemistry between Jason Schwartzman, Adrien Brody, & Owen Wilson. The best parts of Wes Anderson’s films are the characters & the settings, this film continues that tradition to great effect. Looking forward to his next film…
(#95) Warrior - 2011 - Directed by Gavin O’Connor
Such a powerful film, with knock out performances from Tom Hardy, Joel Edgerton, & Nick Nolte. Oscar worthy is what describes this film best. There is not a wasted frame during it’s entire running time. It will keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire third act. Go & see this magnificent film as soon as you can…
(#94) Paper Man - 2009 - Directed by Michele & Kieran Mulroney
Awesome movie. The writing & characters in this film were amazing. It has a great balance of quirkiness & charm. Jeff Daniels & Ryan Reynolds play perfectly off one another, the same goes for Daniels & Emma Stone. The two have great chemistry together, & make all the scenes they share together very powerful.
(#93) Trainspotting - 1996 - Directed by Danny Boyle
Magnificently directed by Danny Boyle, paired with very striking cinematography. Ewan McGregor is fantastic playing a character that is likable if though he’s involved with many questionable activities. It’s film about growing up & accepting responsibility but told in a very different way.
(#92) Super - 2010 - Directed by James Gunn
Completely loved every bit of this film. It has the best performance I have seen from Rainn Wilson, ever. Ellen Page is fantastic in her role as well. Magnificently written, with a great mix of comedy, drama, & action. One of the best films I’ve seen this year.
